Some sort of structure??

I have decided to lay them in some sort of box, that has one colour, such as black as this would help with the contrast of the design.

Place them inside a box side by side, with black panels going across them to help with the deception of the two different pieces of plywood.

This new structure will also help add to the deception of the two different pieces as the large black panels across the structure help distract the eye, and not concentrate on piece of wood as a whole.

WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?

The two different peices side by side. Showing the same qualities.

A mate of mine, pondering about these two pieces of wood.

So he feels the top surfaces, and says they seem identical.

So then he goes through the sides of the wood and them to, look and feel the same.

Picks up the first peice and finds that it isa normal peice of wood

From where he picks up the next peice and is confused of how its possible.

End results, person left thinking  "wtf" and is simply astounded by it.
Therefore giving the desired effect that i was going for.

All that it was left is how to present this.

Again on the sides, so if the person looked at it from the side it would look like they are the same/ in pieces.

This was the back side, didnt like i sprayed both of them black.

DECEPTION

I finally figured out what i am going to do with my design. i decided to go with deciving the person through the combination of sight and touch.

This is going to be accomplished by replicating the bendable piece of plywood with a piece of the same plywood, and then by scoring the top and side surfaces of wood would make it feel and look the same as each other.



NEW concept

This is my new concept im going to work with.
Its essentially plywood cut to a certain length placed togther with masking tape, and it is able to move around freely.

I found this to interesing as it could move/ bend into cool shapes and designs. so im going to work around with this.

Reminds me of the toy slinky, and this toy snakpe that could be manipulated into cool shapes.

What to do with new design??

I started with putting colours inside the groves and when moving your hand underneath them theyu would give some cool colour effect. But fell short. as tthe desired colour effect didnt come through.

I then started painting pictures on the top surface, and wondered if some cool 3d or movement effects would appear. but didnt quite work as effectly as i wanted to.

RE DESIGN

New Concept

My last concept for this project, i found to be not working to the desired effects wanted.
This was ideal, as my laptop is now broken and had all my workings and pictures on the hard drive, from where i need to repair it. So, i had to rethink what i was going to do for this project, from the start of the week before hand in i had to finish this.

I had many influences to think of what im going to do. Whilst in the first year work shop, i found out the starting point of my design through a co stundent constructing his work.This was a peice of wood that can move freely with bends. made of smaller rectangles connected togther, giving amazing curves.

So i started my project from this point. experimenting what i could do with it.
