The ad 112 2B

The ad 112 2B

For an ad, i didnt want to be like everyone else.
everyone seem to explain about there ap in words, or actual videos or stop motion of how it works.
i wanted to take a different take on how i will produce this as an Ad.

I want the Ad to gimmicky, funny, but also truthful.

starting off

For this project in dsdn 122, project 2b we have to do a video about your navigation app made in project 2a. 

at first i had no clue on what i was going to do for my movie. in class sessions i was confused on what to do for my project, as i still had a lot of things on my mind on other projects that were due for other classes. in saying this though, i learnt many things that i could do for my video. i found out that we could like cinematics, stop motion, actual video, walk through of the app, ad of the app, abstracting what it will be like.

Whilst in classes i wondered what to do in my clip, many other people had great ideas, and i didnt really want to copy them. 

But on that same idea, i found video to be more benefical to me, as i am a lot more confident in that instead of doing stop motion.

So i thought what can i do for a video, and the only thing that sprung to my mind was doing an Ad for the app.

Now i have to find certain colours that will correspond to certain sounds.


I went with more of elements feel so nature, water, and wind appealed to me.

so i found a wind noise, water noise and bird chripping the winds.
 these were all found on freesound.org

colours to correspond, were nature = foresty green, water= sky blue and windy gusts= redish

These sounds went perfectly into the design

with this to work i will have to have function in the draw that will interat when you mouse click.
So to make sure you dont have full control of what colour and or sound you are going to get ive made a funtion that it when mouse clicked, it will random a number between 0-4 and a number will correspond to a colour and which that colour will correpsond to a sound.

After much pondering i still wanted to keep my origonal aesthetic i had of the flowing points but some how manipulate it with something else.

so again with my last idea of manipualtion, i will take the ideas of colour and sound and produce something i could try and work out.

So with this, with the origonal interation of the flow of points following the mouse will also correspond with a change in colour will produce a certain sound that will represant that colour and imagine that idea as you move the mouse around the screen and the flow reacting with mouse the colour and the sound as a whole.

next i thought to myself i could make my code really cool with the flow points that i already have in my code. I wanted to manipulate the flow and aesthetic of the points to the corresponding input of noise into the speaker. This will be a sort of abstract flame

This will change colour and then velocity to the actual flow of the points depending how loud or soft you are talking into the speaker.

really loud noise corresponding to a white flame with the fasest velocity, changed colour to white and the flow will be very straight as if the flame is very very intense strong and hot.

next will be around talking noise level where the it will become a blue flame were it changes colour, velocity as slower than the white and is at medium pace, the flow is a lot more curvy that the white, but still ahs some straightness to it.

lastly the red flame will correspond to the least hottest flame, with a change of colour, slowesty velocity, and a very curvy flow as a real flame would do.

This code sounded good at the time, but after much debate and hitting a lot of dead ends. i decided to scrap the idea.
This was me trying to work speakers out but not happeneing.

i thought about adding in anther more interaction. so i wondered if i could have something that was always moving with the mouse, either with it, close to, a delayed reaction behind it. but none of the less, have something that would always show were the flow was going, a dictator or leader sort of thing.


intially i ahd a lot of troblue just putting in basic trail of square that would follow the mouse. first of all it didnt want to work which took awhile to inout that in with my code.
when it did decide to work, took soo long to loadwhen the screen turned up, the square became so lagged with like a 10-20sec delay when moving, and the ppoints didnt even show.

so with that i lowerd the size of the rectangle so that they were like .5- 1 pixels. This was the only way it would work with code. With these squares in the anteration made the flow of points to more really slowly and the it jsut didnt look good. plus you couldnt really define the squares due to them being so smal and taking on the sort of attributes of the flow of points
