DSDN 101 PROJ 3- STORY BOARD

Because my clip and brainstorm consisted of product design and the process that it goes through, im using this as examples. following guidelines of this image.

This is my final story board. I have tried to portray the product design process, through client problem of wanting something, giving a starting point of a concept, developing to the final product. Shown through the images of the smaller top images following a curvature  rotation to the end larger final product, given like a ball travel motion off the whole, as client is a squash player. giving as much insight to the clip.

DSDN101 PROJ 3 - FINAL BRAINSTORM

This is my final brainstorm. Consists of an overall in depth research into product design as that's what i achieve to get into. The image, is some what depicting futuristic design, with the dominant polygon in the center, showing the many things the design can bring. I wanted it to be simple and straight away eye catching drawing you to the middle then, wanting to read around it, leading you to all of the information. i believe that any more images around the center piece will become to cluttered.

Final clip, combining all of my development process togther, to depict my vision of product design through process of concept through to final product.
Enjoy.

Music track used, giving the clip a bit of life, keeping it up beat to captivate the viewer, showing the clip to be dynamic with the techno beats, to show the development into the future.

This is my first development of my clip, showing the idea of a sporty client who has a very old racket, and cant seem to make it go to where he wants it to go. From where he starts thinking about something.

This is my main body of my clip. From here im depicting the process of how product design starts off with an idea which then becomes an actual product. This consits of the main points of conceptual, development, to final product.

This is my last piece of my work. Showing that my client is satisfied with his final product.

DSDN 101 PROJ 3. THREE SECOND PRACTISE CLIP.

This is my practise vid. follow link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQJ3ZSsrR_c&feature=youtu.be

DSDN 101 PROJ 3_ DESIGN STATEMENT

DESIGN STATEMENT

Industrial design is the use of a combination of applied art and applied science to improve the aesthetics, ergonomics and usability of a product, but it may also be used to improve the products marketability and production.
Therefore the role of an industrial designer is to create design solutions for problems of form, usability, physical ergonomics, marketing, brand development and sales. From where my design aspirations and point of view of this clip, is towards product design for clients.

Product design is the process of creating a new product to be sold by a business. It is a development of ideas through a process that leads to a product.
My approach towards product design is conceptualizing and evaluating an idea to then turn into a tangible object.

So with my clip, i have shown a client that is very sporty and is into squash. However with his current old racquet he tries to play good shots by hitting it close to the wall whilst it being low and hard, but he cant seem to do this and hits the tin very regularly, becoming really frustrated and blames the racquet. From were he ponders and gets a great idea to make a new one. The clip then goes into a room were he conceptualizes a new idea of drawing a squash racket, develops and mocks it up through depicting putting the concept into a 3d coloured printer, then placing in the hands of a manufacturer from where appears a brand new racket. From were he is back in the court with the new rackuet, and the very sense of seems to be a new person, and when he hits the ball it goes exactly to were he wants it.
creating the idea of " a new way of seeing"
The main points of analyzing, producing a concept, then synthesis, is were my clip depicts the idea of product design.

DSDN 104 PROJ3 FINAL PHOTO

FINAL PHOTO

In this image i tied together all my ideas into one, from conceptual to final. From my precedents i have developed and shown a model, that gives a feel of something so delicate and intricate being produced from nature. Giving the natural, historical, luxuriousness, cultural and personal significance all in one. depicting my model to you as a rare artefact, being passed down through out generations.

DSDN 104 Proj3 finalising 3d printed model.

FINAL PICTURES

This was with a rock, referencing back to my precedents to give them that natural historical look. whilst at the same time being to delicate and appealing to the eye.

These two were of my previous model, from where i  have dyed them blue to depict my my 3ds max render and keep along the same lines as my story i am trying to show.

These photos were of my model before i added any external ojects.
FINAL RENDER

This is my final render for this project.
Using my final background that i have chosen, i placed my rendered images on a diagonal, With my final image being in the centre and much larger. I kept the shadow and reflections of the objects, to give them a more 3-D feel therefore making it seem more real.
i lowered the the shadow opacity, and sparked the refractions a bit brighter to the look of them gleaming at the beach next to the water.

DSDN 104 Proj 3 Practise renders.

RENDERS

Practise render of one of my models, found my background i wanted use . I like it as it contrasted well with the texture on my models, and was not to over powering for my design, which then assisted in its aesthetic value.

These are all practise renders at different angles, using the ocean texture with high shinyness and refractive value. giving off good reflections and shadows.

DSDn 104 proj 3 precedents for showing design.

PRECEDENTS

The use of the ocean seemed like the type of texture i wanted to use. It holds many attributes through the calmness of its fluidty form, to that of its strength and significance that it can employ.

The paua shells on the rocks with the light tinge of water in the background, made me want to represent this in my design.

The stylise of capturing the intricate design of the pendant with the fading of the bracelet, appealed to me, i will try this with my final physical model.

Again, the use displaying the object on something else, such as a rock, appeals to my eye and design.

These are the following backgrounds i want to try my rendered images on.
I believe that it reinforces the idea of sacredness, historical meaning, rarity, relations back to nature  and what they can give to us.

DSDN 104 PROJ 3 DEVELOPMENT

DEVELOPMENT

This is my development on 3ds max. from my simple form in solidworks, i developed the form to an actual object, transforming each piece into something different until i liked it.

DSDN 104 PROJ 3 DEVELOPMENT

DEVELOPMENT

This is my first development , i have sketched these from my precedents combining them from singular into one form. then developing that sketch into more aesthetically friendly

DSDn 104 proj 3 precedents

PRECEDENTS

I have chosen this to show intricate detail through small bones combining with bigger ones. Producing an overall better object.
also the concept of rarity is implied through the findings of the dinosaurs bones, from were that idea is to be taken into my design.

Again this was to show how intricate design can make one good object as a whole.

I like this use of the small spaces around the design to produce a very good model.

The use of shells will be ideal in my design as i want to incase something with in my object, to show strength and and the sense of home and something to protect.

This use of trophies again reinforce the idea of something to want to have, and strive to obtain.

The Greenstone pounamu necklace, is to give my design historic reference. i want my design to have been something sacred the flows through generations.

The use of tamoko, is the basis of my design, were i want to incorporate the use of curves and sharp ends, in a conjuntion to produce a form.

The clam and pearl, shows something that luxurious, that is incased with in something so firm and strong. The pearl takes years to develop, therefore being of rarity.
